Hi Everyone, and welcome to my forum!
If you're over 21, please call me Tim. Please. I mean it.
If you're 21 or under, please call me "Dr. Horan." Please. I earned it.
Ok, a little about me.
I'm from New York, and I live in a log cabin on a lake. I'm slowly restoring my house, and doing all the interior carpentry myself. I even built a library in my house (which I've always wanted). I turned the master bedroom (on the first floor) into a library, where I keep my two-thousand (or so) books. It's beautiful, and that's where I do most of my writing.
I'm a library media specialist in Hauppauge High School, on Long Island, NY. I'm very lucky. It's a wonderful school district, and we have the greatest kids on Earth.
I'm also the Director (and founder) of the School Library Writing Center (an educational resource which I invented). I work part-time in a local public library.
I hold five university degrees and an advanced certificate in Writing. Here they are:
Bachelor's in English literature (minor in Classical Civilizations)
Master's in English literature
Master's in Library & Information Science
Master's in Adolescence Education
Doctorate in English literature (dissertation on Shakespeare)
Advanced Graduate Certificate in Creative Writing (focusing on writing children's literature)
My book Create Your School Library Writing Center: Grades 7 - 12 will be coming out in June of 2016. I can't wait! It will be the culmination of a lifelong dream.
I have wanted to be a writer and author since I was in kindergarten. The first moment I could open a book and read it, I said "This is what I'm going to do with the rest of my life." Honestly, it was not a decision. It was a fully-formed fact, like being born with a certain eye-color. Well, there it is; that's who I am.
Register soon - I can't wait to meet you all on the forum!
