Sometimes it seems like all I do is write. But I'm not complaining! I've always wanted to be a writer.
I recently published eight articles on School Library Writing Centers in School Library Monthly. And a big thanks to Deb Levitov for agreeing to publish my work!
I also have an article coming out very soon in School Library Connection. It's called "From Exploration to Education: A Visit with a World Explorer." Read it! You'll love it.
My book Create Your School Library Writing Center: Grades 7 - 12 will be coming out in March of 2016.
My book Create Your School Library Writing Center: Grades K - 6 will be coming out a year later.
And I recently found out that my doctoral thesis (on Shakespeare) is getting published. That will be out in 2017.
I am beyond excited about having three books published!
I also recently completed an advanced certificate in Creative Writing at Stony Brook University, in NY. While there, I learned how to write children's books. It was an amazing experience, and I worked one-on-one with several famous children's authors who taught me a great deal (writing children's books is much harder than it looks).
At this point, I have written seven (7) children's books.
I'm trying to get them published. I've had a few nibbles, but no firm offers yet.
I will keep trying! I really, really want to be a children's author.
And what about you??? Doing any writing? Tell us about it!

I intend to write and often think I would love to be a writer. I have read a number of books about writing and enjoy purchasing pens that would be excellent writing tools! There are several excuses that I return to about not actually writing. None of them have anything to do with lack of good pens. I used to write. That is actually one of the reasons why I don't write (though I intend to). The other reason is that it is now so public, being online and digital and social (this forum, for example) and that is a problem for me. It is like having people I don't know reading over my shoulder, paralyzing. Not freeing. Perhaps the quandry is that there are differnt reasons to write. Writing can be a way to think and clarify, to make meaning and identify connections. We also can write to share something we know about with a specific audience in mind. That is the goal eventually.

Hi Jeannine! It was great seeing you at the AASL conference yesterday. And I'm delighted to hear that your new writing center is doing so well! Keep it up - you're helping kids in ways that you can't even imagine. And I know what you mean about writing. When I got my first article published, I was so self conscious, thinking "People are going to read this!" And it was paralyzing. But I remembered something someone told me once: 'Perfect' is the enemy of 'done.' And it's something I really need to keep in mind, because I'm a perfectionist. Also, please consider posting something in the "Tell us about yourself" section. You're the expert on that subject! And keep writing! I look forward to reading your posts on here.
