Hello Everyone, I began graduate school in 2014 working on an MA in Literature and Composition, so I've been a little busy lately. I am writing today, the day after graduation, to introduce myself to this new world of Writing Centers that I will step into as a result of my newly minted degree. I am a high school English teacher in California. I have been teaching for eighteen years at the same school and in the same classroom. I submitted a formal proposal for a school writing center in December of 2018 and our Writing Center and Tutoring Center will be born as a result of that proposal in August of 2019. This rebirth will result in my leaving my classroom of eighteen years to move to the unused top floor of our library. I spent a good portion of the school year clearing out the space to make room for our centers. I am excited to begin this new chapter in my career as the Writing/Tutoring Center Director I have the pleasure of continuing to teach AP English Language and AP Research in our freshly created Tutoring Center, adjacent to our Writing Center, in addition to directing both the Writing and Tutoring Centers. This sounds like a huge undertaking, so I will probably ask for your guidance every now and again, and again. Thank you for allowing me to be part of this community.

Hi Victoria!
I'm so glad you joined the forum, and that you are creating a School Library Writing Center. It sounds very exciting, and you're at the start of a wonderful adventure.
I too was a high school English teacher, and I made the switch to high school librarian, in a different school district. It's been a wonderful experience.
I'll be anxious to hear how your new SLWC shapes up, so please keep me in the loop! And please don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns, or just to chat. Writing centers - and writing - are two of my favorite subjects, and I never tire of talking about them.
Keep in touch! And please call me Tim.
