Hello, and welcome to my forum! I'm so glad you stopped by.
So, what is this forum?
It's basically a continuation of my book Create Your School Library Writing Center: Grades 7 - 12, which will be available in June of 2016.
I'm the inventor of the School Library Writing Center, and my book is a very readable "how to" on the subject. Trust me; I really focused on making it enjoyable and understandable. If you haven't read it yet, read it! You'll love it.
I thought it would be a great (and novel) idea to give my readers direct access to me, as they read my book, and embark on the journey of creating their own School Library Writing Centers. This way, you can talk to me about my book, and about the experience of creating and running your own school library writing center. It's a grand adventure!
And who is the forum for?
It's for pretty much everyone. Yes, it's for my readers, but it's also for librarians (school and otherwise), teachers, writing center directors (tutors, employees), writers, professors, graduate students, would-be writers, people struggling with writing, etc...in short, this forum is for anyone who is interesting in libraries, writing, teaching, learning, reading, and life in general. Why turn anyone away? Walt Whitman wouldn't like that.
The price of admission is a smile.
I really want this to be a pleasant, friendly, and safe environment. I'm hoping to see lots of creativity, friendliness, fellowship, support, intellectual curiosity, interesting conversations, joyful proclamations of success, bewildered wonderings about failures, and a willingness to learn and to share. I want this to be a safe place for people to meet and spend some time. And I am so hoping for this to go international, and world-wide. So if you're from another country, continent, hemisphere, or even planet - please sign up!
If you can't say something nice...
Oh, you know the drill. Nothing profane or abusive, no ad hominems, no attacks, no slander, no accusations, no flame wars. Because all that stuff poisons the atmosphere. I don't mind an intellectual debate, and it's quite human to disagree on certain issues, but let's keep things friendly and productive.
And let's all have fun.
And if you want to discuss my book, please make sure you say only nice things about it.
Just kidding. (Sort of.)
